LOOSE TOUCH Live Debut Video Shot At Etoile Boutique

Aaron Borowicz and Tyson Bodiford was a new band called Loose Touch and they are a total fuzzy scorcher. They made their live debut as a four member band a few weeks ago. I was out of town so I missed it. I saw some quick clip videos on social media and sounded raw and fuzzy. When I spoke to them they didn’t have any plans for any other shows. Hopefully that will change soon.

The members are long time friends with Fallon, owner of vintage shop Etoile Boutique (2424 E. Robinson St Orlando), who just began a new video series called Petite Etoile (translated “small star”), where musicians and bands set up in their store and filmed by top notch videographers. The Loose Touch video is the third to be released. Previously sessions included The Sh-Booms and John Lee Wyatt. This session was directed by Forest Royer with Loose Touch performing as a two-piece. Take a look!

Figurehead Records Museum Exhibit

Opening next weekend (September 9th) at the Orange County Regional History Center in downtown Orlando (next to the Downtown Public Library) is a special exhibit celebrating Orlando’s Underground Music Scene from the 1980s-2000s with a focus on Figurehead Records contribution.

I was lucky enough to have been a part in the presentation. I was interviewed in length with my memories, impressions and observations being an outsider among outsiders through Kick Bright Zine. I also contributed some photographs which will be on display.

It is running for several months so at some point it should be worth making time to check this exhibition. It’s something that usually does not receive recognition so I think it’s pretty neat.

You can find out more information at this link.

Here it is finally! Thanks for your patience!

The original Kick Bright Zine show review here. The lineup for the show was Mineral, Jejune, The Get Up Kids, Peterbuilt and a bunch of other bands I missed. This show was my introduction to Jejune, whom I would love forever 🙂 Please enjoy!

Orlando band Courtneys Live Show Added to Bandcamp

a1045789356_10

Jeffrey and Kristin Howard (Hot Hands) were rhythm section a band with two gals named Courtney (Courtney Rackley and Courtney Matzke, respectively) called Courtneys for a bit from 2005-2007. We went on tour during the summer of 2006 with one of our most favorite bands ever Doris Delay. When we weren’t toting around guns and chainsaws in our blood splattered outfits in public we recorded just about everything on our tape recorder.

This show uploaded to Bandcamp is a show we played in Valdosta, GA at the famous Rock and Roll Pizza (RIP). This was a particularly fun and crazy show with both Courtneys in top form doing what they do best – being themselves.

Rabbitfoot Records Brings Back Vinyl Cutting Service

recordplayer

Making and receiving mix tapes is cool. It’s not a lost art if you know the right person. What if I told you could make a mix tape but instead of it being on cassette but have it cut straight to vinyl? You can right here in Central Florida!

One cool thing about Central Florida is we have Rabbitfoot Records in Sanford that can press small run vinyl records. When I mean small I mean like 1 or 2 copies though I have heard they can do up to 50. All you have to do is bring them a CD or cassette or whatever and they can cut it to vinyl with their special record press.

They stopped about two years ago but have brought back this special service in January 2016. They’d make great gifts or if you DJ you can make a vinyl mix of music you only have digitally. The possibilities are almost limitless.

Rabbitfoot Records is located in Sanford at 307 E 2nd Street Sanford, FL 32771. You can get price quotes at robertw2010@hotmail.com.

New video from Savoy Motel.

Savoy Motel have released a new video for their song “Hot One”. The new band from Nashville features members from Heavy Cream and Cheap Time. The band grew from a collaboration of Jeffrey Novak (Cheap Time) and Jessica McFarland (Heavy Cream) along with Mimi Galbierz , who is one of my personal favorite current rock guitarists, and Dillon Watson (also from Heavy Cream). That’s definitely the makings of an interesting band. Their debut record will be out this year. This song is a cool indication into what is to come.
