Hungry Gayze

Hungry Gayze, Cotton Candy Cookies and Cream.
@ Copper Rocket. Maitland, Florida. Saturday August 22, 2009.
Review, video and pictures by Jeffrey Howard.

The theme of the night was Monster Party. And no, not the energy drink- freaking MONSTERS@ RAR!!!!! If you came dressed up like a Monster you got in free. Actually, Copper Rocket has been promoting Saturday night free shows so everyone got in anyway. People still dressed up. The bands decorated the inside of the bar with Halloween stuff and handed out candy.

Not dressed as monsters but covered in blood was Hungry Gayze, a brand new "all-star" band fronted by Alice Grincewicz (Paradise Party Club) on lead vocals and saxophone, Shawn Lloyd (Shit Eagle, Slippery Slopes) on guitar, Rich Evans (Slippery Slopes) on drums and Ben Gayze (insert bad joke here) on bass. Considering their past bands they don't sway too far from the garage rock scene they all helped create. Adding in the mix is a little saxophone and vocals from all four members at once. They've got fast and slow songs. Hopefully this can be more than a side band for these guys. Alice is a great frontperson.

Hosting the night was Cotton Candy Cookies and Cream, who've since added a saxophonist (that's two for the night) playing through pedal effects, similarily to the sonic manipulations of former member Danny Feedback did before he left. This band gets more awesome the more focused they become. Jenny Feedbacks guitar is getting downright dangerous. Her tone is unworldly. Just listen to "We're Wolves" from the video below. She's out to destroy with sounds like that.
