Play a show. Then go to a show. That's my night. Both Uncle Lou's and The Peacock Room are on the same street. It's great for show hopping, throw in Wills Pub and you've got a nice spectrum of possibilities.

The early show at Uncle Lou's was called xFalxcorex Fest, in honor of Tim McGowen's Birthday. He's in Campfire Suburbia and Ghost Aviary and both bands would be playing. Ghost Aviary is a screamy post hardcore trio made up of Tim on drums, William Lloyd (ex-Flashlights) on bass and Chris (12 Miles Offshore).

Bringing the nonsense was Palm Bay's My Black Girlfriend. They ruled. They throw together blast beats and metalized guitars all in one fell swoop. I'm pretty sure not a single one went over forty seconds. The best part were the explanations of the songs which were longer than the songs themselves. Their songs ranged for five to twenty seconds a piece. If they were a serious band they would be terrible but they had a fun sense of humor so it made them awesome. Thrown in for good measure was a Journey cover. Couldn't recognize it but they said so so it must be true. It sounded like grrrr grrrrrr dwup dunk, then it was over.

The other half of Campfire Suburbia (Matt Corpiel) is also in Quilla June, who are an instrumental technical rock band. You can tell they have love for 70's prog bands. The Fields, the Sky is a new post rock band based in Orlando. They've got two members from Flashlights (William Lloyd and Melissa Hopkins on bass and drums) and Tony Oriza on guitar. Tony is also the drummer for the popular Vessels of Energia. The three of them make music along the lines of Trizesta and Ethyl Meserve, slow majestic delayed guitars held by the rhythm section. It was only their third show and it looks like something to pay attention to.

Then we (Hot Hands) played. I don't anything remarkable to say other than the few people that stuck around seemed to think it was okay. By the time Campfire Suburbia played all but six people (not including Tim and Matt) hung around to see them. It irked me quite a bit because those guys are great and shouldn't have been ditched. They did the books song and their new internet hit "Get a Cat Join A Forum". Afterwards Matt played "Fantasy Land". That's one of Kristin and I's favorites (and the Third Eye Blind but that's just me). It was fun.

Then it was time to pack up the van and drive up the street to Peacock Room where one of the best current Orlando bands, Cotton Candy Cookies and Cream, were having their last show. Boo! Jenny Feedback is leaving Orlando soon- not before this last show and releasing her bands new CD.

Opening was Magick Finger, which is a slimmed down version of their band from 2003-2005 called Fantasie with Freddie Mullins on guitar, Johnny Wells on bass and Aaron Zacktan on drums. If Jenny Feedback was playing it would have been full on Fantasie. Magick Finger have all the rock glory with a lot less glam makeup and alcohol. With that being said don't mistake this for being tame! They had a few Fantasie songs in their set list and a few new ones. I'm not sure if Future Of Films in Space is on hiatus but this new band is pretty awesome. Jenny came onstage to sing during the last song "Put On".

Closing out was Cotton Candy Cookies and Cream. For the past year they pretty much have been the best heavy psychedelic rock band in the area- perhaps the whole southeast. They just released a CD called Instant Karma. Like I said Jenny is moving away but not before hurting a few eardrums. There's so much sound going on with just four people it's incredible.
