This was a cool show to be part of. We played with our friends Slaves, Woven Bones and The Fresh and Onlys. It was the first real "club" show for Slaves. They've been at the grass roots level for a few months playing house shows and small clubs that don't require a full PA system. They seemed a little bewildered with monitors and sound guys but pulled off a decent set and sounded good doing it.

We (Hot Hands) played next and we sounded all right. Fedge ran PA and he has done sound for us before so he knows how to make us sound pretty good. It was our first local show of the year and was worth the wait.

Then Woven Bones came after. It was the first time Andy Burr had been back to Orlando, where he lived before moving himself and his band to Austin Texas two summers ago (was it really that long ago?). Since the move his band got a ton of notice and released a handful of singles and a 12" and landed a deal with Hozac Records to put out his full length. It comes out in April I think. The live show was pretty convincing. It was hitting all the rocking parts just right- I think they may be missing some key dynamics.

The Fresh and Onlys made the move to play off the big stage onto the floor space. A good move since the audience dwindled as the night grew on. Too bad because the band was pretty good. Though normally they have five people in the band (if you look at press photos) but were touring as a three piece- guitar, bass and drums. I'd only heard the new record a couple times but I'd have to say I liked the live show over the recordings. The bass player made that band something cool and fun with zippy all over the place bass parts.
