No doubt this was the best show I saw in 2008.... and the year was just beginning. Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings have been at the top of the game for "retro-soul" from what instruments they play to how the record all their music: vintage and analog only. Their live show is just one big dance party. It wasn't just the band- it was the audience. Tampa radio station WMNF, who have knowledgeable soul DJs on staff, hosted the event and managed to create an air of excitement. The Dap Kings took that energy and blew it up and left a big sweaty mess towards the front of the stage. They killed it! They had to do at least three encores- maybe there were four. I took a bunch of photographs with my Canon Rebel GII and my camera phone. I didn't bother editing them. There are four videos I found from this show. You can see myself and Kristin in a couple of them.
